Head Coach: Mr. David Byars

        Mr. Byars is the principal and has been the coach of the Westview High School varsity cheerleaders since 1992. His squad competes at the Universal Cheerleaders Association National Championship in Orlando, Florida February 10th through February 13th. Nationally ranked 16 out of 19 years, coaching 94 All American/All Stars, and winning a NCA National Championship in 1994-1995 and UCA National Championship in 2003-2004, 2006-2007, 2007-2008, and 2008-2009 are among his many accomplishments. Fifteen of his athletes have received Division I collegiate scholarships in cheerleading and three former cheerleaders have received Division I collegiate scholarships in dance. Many others have received $500.00 scholarships toward college tuition. The Charger Cheerleaders have won the Clinic Bowl State Championship 1992 through 1996, 1999 and 2000 and the TSSAA State Cheerleading Championships in 1997 and 1999. They have brought home the first place trophy for the Regional Qualification Competition for UCA Nationals for the past eight years.  He coached the National Champion for UCA Girls "4" Stunt Group Competition for the two years in a row 2002-2003 and 2003-2004.  Mr. Byars was also named the West Tennessee Cheerleading Coach of the Year by TSSAA for the 2004-2005 academic school year. 
        

        Big David (as he is known to his squad) completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee Martin with a Bachelor of Science in Education and his Master of Science in Education from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He is married to the former Margaret Leech and they have six children: John David Cole, Holli Byars, Chris Cole, Tori Byars, Amy Cole Belew, and David Byars, Jr.

 
Head Coach: Mrs. Maggie Byars

        Mrs. Byars has been involved with cheerleading at Westview High School since 1989.  In 1992, Mrs. Byars began helping her husband coach the cheer squad and in 1997 started the Westview Pom Pon Squad. She has coached 5 All Stars.


        Mrs. Byars graduated from Lambuth University with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  She is currently a second grade teacher at Martin Primary School.

 
Assistant Coach:  Mrs. Amy Cole Belew

        Mrs. Belew graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and completed her Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee Martin. Before transferring to Knoxville she attended UTM and was a member of the pom-pon squad. She is also a former Westview High School Competition Cheerleader and captain her sophomore, junior, and senior year.  She is currently an Assistant Cheerleading Coach at Westview.

       Mrs. Belew choreographed routines for area schools for over 10 years.  She has also choreographed for the Chi Omega sorority at UTM for their pyramid competition for 4 years.  They won 1st place and best of show 3 out of the 4 years.        

       Mrs. Belew is married to Mr. Bart Allan Belew and they have four sons: Cole Allan, Tyler Grady, Barrett Christopher, and Alexander Michael.

 
Assistant Coach:  Mr. David Byars Jr.

          Mr. Byars is an English Teacher and Assistant Cheerleading Coach at Westview High School. He also teaches gymnastic cheerleading and tumbling.  

        "Little David", as he is known to the girls, received his Bachelor of Arts in English at Lambuth University in Jackson, TN.  While at Lambuth University, he received a full scholarship for football .  After completion of his undergraduate degree he attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he was a member of the Vols Cheerleading Squad, which competed nationally.  He is also a former UCA staff member.  "Little David"  has also taught various camps for area schools the past 6 years.

       Mr. Byars is married to the former Elizabeth Duncan and they have three daughters: Rebecca Ellen, Amanda Kathryn, and Sarah Elizabeth.

 
 
Assistant Coach:  Miss Holli Byars

        Miss Byars is an Assistant Cheerleading Coach for Westview High School.  She graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor in University Studies. She has been a coach for Martin Youth Cheerleading since 2006.

 
 
Choreographer:  Mr. Craig Monte

        Mr. Monte graduated from Morehead State University. While there he cheered and competed nationally. He is a former Universal Cheerleader Association staff member, but he now coaches and choreographs professionally for Varsity VRock. He choreographed all Westview's routines used in competition this year.

       Mr. Monte has two daughters: Celia Grace and Blakely Hope.
